One unit within the North Cascades National Park complex of parks, Lake Chelan National Recreation Area is one of the less-visited portions of the park due to its distance from any main road. This large lake offers a quiet haven for boaters, fishers and those looking to explore Washington's natural mountainous beauty. Campgrounds dot the park on both sides of the lake: some are accessible only by boat travel across the water.
